Kansas City Phi Mu Alumnae Chapter
Friendship is a sheltering tree. - Samuel T. Coleridge

Description of Events

Mexican Phi-Esta: The executive board members are the hostesses and will prepare the Mexican feast. This is a great social event to mingle, but also a chapter business meeting. We will be collecting school and art supplies to go to KU Medical Center to benefit CMN.

Spooky Sacks Halloween Spooky Sacks: This is one of our traditional CMN fundraising events, but we are mixing it up this year. Instead of putting together Halloween Spooky Sacks for KU Medical Center at someone's house, we are having a Trunk or Treat. Come and enjoy this family event! Bring fun Halloween items: stickers, pens, little Halloween trinkets, note pads etc. (Please no items smaller than a quarter and no food items). We mix and match our items to create the wonderful sacks for the kids of KU Medical Center. Be ready to estimate how much you've spent; we need this information in order to report back to National how much we raised for CMN.

Maple Leaf Festival Maple Leaf Philanthropy: Our biggest fundraiser event for CMN! All proceeds from the sale go to CMN. We used to sell cookies, baked goods, water and soft drinks in front of the Phi Mu house in Baldwin City. This year, we will be accepting donations for CMN balloons, drinks and temporary tattoos. This is a fun day to be outside, get to know the collegiates and educate people about CMN and Phi Mu!

Christmas Brunch

Christmas Brunch: Come in style to this festive event! Brunch will be provided. We will celebrate with a white elephant holiday decorations (ornaments, figurines, etc.) exchange. Also, bring new toys, school supplies, games, stuffed animals or gently used books to donate to KU Medical Center. All contributions go to CMN. We will also have announcements and Woman of the Year nominations at this event.

Founders' Day Luncheon: Founders' Day Luncheon is one of our traditional events. Come for the social hour to mingle before the luncheon. Enjoy the entertainment (music, speakers, etc.) which will be provided during lunch. After lunch, there will be a brief Phi Mu ceremony where we honor our 75 and 50 year members.

Salad Luncheon Auction Salad Luncheon: Show off the creative chef in you! Bring a salad and the recipe to share. Also bring a white elephant gift (or bring two) to be auctioned off for the Chapter's Operations Fund. If you can talk fast, you may find yourself to be our auctioneer. Bid on anything you want or don't want. This is a fun way to get some great bargains or start your Christmas shopping early!

GKC Panhellenic Woman of the Year: The Greater Kansas City Panhellenic hosts a luncheon every year and honors one local Greek alumna as the Woman of the Year. Each member chapter sends a nominee who is eligible to run for 3 years. The event starts with a social hour, lunch, and then follows with the silent auction, Woman of the Year award, and panhellenic scholarship announcements. Each sorority brings an item to be auctioned off. The auction raises funds for the GKC Panhellenic Grants and Loans Fund, which gives grants and loans to college juniors and seniors.
